Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists PFUJ has strongly condemned cowardly attack on senior journalist, writer and analyst Ayaz Amir who was attacked, manhandled and beaten in Lahore, when he was on his way home from Dunya TV office after attending tv show. He criticised Imran Khan in his speech yesterday(Thursday) in a seminar of Islamabad high court Bar.
PFUJ President Shahzada Zulfiqar and Secretary General Nasir Zaidi in a statement said that “this is a cowardly act of those who cannot face constructive criticism and have dictatorial and authoritarian mindset”.
They called for immediate
registration of FIR against unknown culprits who not only beaten a veteran journalist but also his driver and snatched his cellphone. “We demand arrest of criminals without any delay as this cannot be tolerated” they urged.
PFUJ leadership said that high handedness and such incidents cannot silence the sane voices in this country of 22 million people and PFUJ will take tougher stand, if attackers of Ayaz Amir are not arrested.
